For The Record Game Design Discussion
Hi, I'm Preet Bhatt from Out Of Tune Studios. I'll go over a few game design decisions we made during the preproduction.
Game Theme
Horror Games are a pretty popular genre in the gaming industry. So, when this game was pitched as a horror puzzle game. Each of the teammates voted for it as they liked the idea of it and the genre in general.
Game Concept
The game concept is pretty unique and interesting. The concept of using a record player with records with different abilities and effects on the monsters throughout the entire level is pretty interesting. We brainstormed what can we add to make the game more interesting for players that are paying.
Enemy Design
We came with the idea of 2-3 different enemies that have/take effects of the record players in a different way.
Different Records
We also brainstormed and came up ideas of what different effects a record can have. For example: A record will make the enemies fall asleep, a record will make enemies more aggressive, a record will stun the enemies, etc.
Level Design
We came up an idea that we would keep a tutorial level before the actual game starts to make the player familiar with the game controls and movement. Then the actual level would start and the player can play the game already being familiar with its style and controls.
Thus, these are some of the decisions we made as a group in meetings in context with the Game Design.
Get For the Record
